Another update from Dave on his layout

I know I post alot of Dave’s stuff – but I always find it so watchable:

“Hi Alistair Just loaded part 2 of the changes going on my layout, few tips in this one, white lining roads, ballasting, painting ballast, adding ready made viaduct walling, also putting underbrush to disguise building join.. and maybe a few more.

Regards

Dave”

Latest ebay cheat sheet is here

And don’t forget the Beginner’s Guide if you feel you’re missing out on all the fun.

Please do keep ’em coming.

You need a little crossing cabin to work those gates Dave, there was no remote working for that type. Doesn’t have to be a full signalbox, Ratio or Wills or such do a nice little single storey ground frame kit that would do, most crossings also had protecting signals. Never seen a tapering road before though mate!
If you get some photos out, ballast is not all track coloured, the accumulation of brake dust, toilet waste, clay pumping through etc will turn it brown and ultimately weedy in time, but much main line track gets relaid periodically and ballast cleaning or topping up more often, so you find many stretches with nice clean greyish ballast, try painting some track with the rusty grime before laying, then put nice clean ballast round it, makes a nice contrast.
    All the best,

Great looking renovations Dave! You make the most of the space you have. I have seen many a narrowing and disappearing road in the distance! Your’s shows lots of imagination and creativity. I especially enjoyed last year’s Christmass video. Keep up the good work. You are an inspiration to newbies such as myself.

Hi Dave , great video as usual. I was wondering where you got the polystyrene walling from? & what is the height of it? & lastly would it bend around a 2nd radius curve? Many thanks. Alex

  8. David Howarth says:

The polystyrene walling came from Sherwood Models online …just google and all sizes and details can be found on there ..not sure they would bend round a 2nd radius , I would not recommend it , I have taken note re the width of the road , and have now changed this ..Dangerous dave
