Sorry I didn’t get back to you – got distracted.
I’ve been pressed into service getting our house re-painted, gardens weeded and planted, and that sort of thing.
Now that most of my layout is done, I plan on nibbling at detailed improvements and embellishments during the cold season.

I know I’ve said it before, but I’m still going to say it.
It’s always the layouts with a theme in mind from day one that turn out the best.
Fred’s layout is quite small, but because he was clear about what he wanted to model and why, it’s an absolute stunner, regardless of its size.

In my mind, there’s only one thing more important than having a theme for your layout, and that’s making a start.

just uploaded a video showing some very reasonable priced trees that I have added to the layout.
To make use of the old ones which were far too bright, I have show how to change them by just spraying with a tin of spray paint, which has transformed them in to something I can now use

Fred. You have amazing number of night lights. Tells us please how you have powered them. The track and trains are seperate from the lighting power sources?
Dave, if they are too bright couldn’t you spray them with a dark green plastic paint?

I love layouts with lights for night operations and Fred’s is one of, if not the, best I’ve seen. I wish I could manage the lighting on my layout but just getting the trains to run has made the underside of the board into a real rats nest of wires. I also dabble with RC model boats and guess what – they are just the same inside. And bon’t get me started on the state my desktop!!
Well done Fred on a real masterpiece.

Dave, if they are too bright, spray with hair spray then dip into an appropriate ground cover material. Problem solved.
If I hadn’t seen that these night were photos were from Al’s railroad site, I’d never think they were anything but real “life-sized” pics from any other source. Fantastic stuff!

I am an architect by profession & accustomed to the magnificent splendour of professional modelmaking. It’s spoilt me but the standard of these night scenes is indiscernible from the pro’s work imho. Brilliant. Well done !
