Yanni’s been back in touch with more pics of his stunning layout – it really does show off the HO scale detail parts.
(If you want to get up to speed, his last post is here.)
There’s no narrative with this batch, but that’s fine because they are stunning pics. So I thought I’d put my own ramble under the them.
It’s surprising how many layouts do feature castles – there is something enchanting about them and they add a lot of interest to a layout.
When ever I see a castle I’m reminded of Bob’s layout: Bob’s layout
People milling about a scene really do bring it to life, as this pic shows.
It also reminds me of Dan’s post on adding people, which is good adivce I think: Model train people.
Every inch of Yanni’s layout seems to be detailed and weathered – it’s a joy to look at.
You don’t see many horse and carts on a layout, but with the soft street lights, it doesn’t look out of place at all.
This pics is a great example of how different a layout looks at night with a bit of ligting. Taking the time to add LEDs lights to your layout is a sound investment of your time.
The platforms looks busy as they should be on every model railroad.
Why just a passenger when you can add one carrying balloons? It’s touches like this that add so much to a layout.
Another example of adding people transforms a layout and brings it to life.
LED lights make all the difference. It reminds me of Bob’s excellent post on adding them to your layout: Model train LED lights
Adding workmen as well as passengers is another touch that add so much charm to this layout.
Another good pic showing how much a difference lighting can make.
A huge big thanks to Yanni for sharing more pics of his HO scale detail parts.
That’s all for today folks.
Please do keep ’em coming though – shortly I’ll have nothing to post at all. You’ve all gone very quiet.
And if today is the day you stop dreaming and start doing, the Beginner’s Guide is here.
Best

In a word, “WOW!” Yanni, your attention to detail really brings your layout to life. As Dangerous Dave said (above), “well done.”
That is truly one of the most stunning and inspiring layouts presented on this blog…for what it’s worth , I nominate you for the hall of fame . Great detail and effort are quite apparent here , you have really done a fantastic job . Only question I have is where did you find the Ferrari Dino ? That’s too cool . Great job !!! Seriously though I really do think that’s hall of fame work .
I scrolled through Yanni’s photos three times … top to bottom, back to the top and then down again. Magnificent work; just so nicely balanced with beautiful colour palettes, perfect placement of structures and figures, and careful lighting.
I’ll put forth another nomination for Hall of Fame distinction!
Yanni, very well done and excellent staging of the population on your pike!
Yanni, You are a master of modeling and your scenes are so intriguing. Well done.

Absolutely Amazing Yanni, cannot wait to start my layout.
Wow! That is so realistic! Spectacular!
Love the buildings and figures. Great detail! I imagine some day technology that will enable us modelers to have virtual reality projectors over head to have people moving and walking around our layouts as trains go by.
The Southern (USA) folks would certainly say “Uh Huh! That boy can sure model!” Yanni, you are a genius! Each scene is a very well thought out diorama! I’m archiving your pictures for a city scene I intend on building. Please keep the info coming!

Big Al uses the word stunning a lot because there are so many awesome layouts that come to him.
Stunning means:
Masterful craftsmanship and engineering to tie it all together.
Artistry to blend in scenes, backgrounds & people that pleases the eye.
Creativity to entice the viewer to absorb the Wow factor.
Details that keep us focused and concentrating for a while.
Your work is stunning indeed and we thank you.

Thanks for sharing.
Yanni – Awesome layout! Your scenery is top-notch.
Such a beautiful layout and I see you taking the Lotus out or drive haha
Incredible detail. If Yanni is not in the Hall of Fame, he certainly should be!
Not only is your layout masterfully done, the lighting adds accents that take your buildings and detail completely over the top! A real inspiration to this novice RR builder.
Fantastic looking and wonderful detail. I agree with the others, Hall of Fame worthy.

Yanni…… Stunning is the right word and the lighting is awesome.
Beautiful creative workings her and I love the placement and design, especially the old Victorian style house with the cool brick wall in front. Love all your buildings and wonder where you got them. Never seen that style before.

Ancient foreign architecture highlights this wonderous array of landscaping and detailed workmanship. A craftsman indeed. Loved the Victorian type of home with the grey stone wall with the carriage strolling through. Magnificent layout, love the buildings of abroad distinction and the vista you have created with your imaginary mind. Love it.
