Harry’s been busy with his Marklin layout:
“Hi from Harry in Australia.
The layout I constructed is with Marklin 3 rail some of it 50 years old track .
Digital mfx locos running, with steam and sound and turnouts and signals switched by reed switches for the block system to work.
Have fun with the Marklin pictures .
Greetings
Harry”
A huge thanks to Harry for sharing his layout.
I never know what’s going to appear in my inbox, so it’s a real delight to see what you are all getting up to.
Whenever a Marklin train pops up, I’m always reminded of this post – if you scroll to the middle of it there’s a wonderful pic that goes with an equally wonderful narrative about this hobby.
And then there is Paul’s post. He’s got back in to model railroads with his small Marklin layout.
In fact there’s lots of them on the blog – but then again ther’s lots of everything on the blog when it comes to model trains, model railroads or model railways, whatever you care to call it.
That’s all for today folks.
Please do keep ’em coming.
And if today is the day you grab the bull by the horns, the Beginner’s Guide is here.
Best
Al
PS Latest ebay cheat sheet is here. It has Marklin. Whatever you’re after in fact…
Harry,
This is a great job!
I agree with Harry! Lots of eye candy to take in. Super.
Why do so many modelers spend countless hours on a flawless layout and then ruin it all with terrible, toy-like trees that are not only totally unrealistic, many of then are bent over nearly double. What don’t they see?
I had to sell off my Marklin collection which was quite extensive., because I moved and had to downsize. I always loved model trains and the hobby and regret not keeping a l small portion of it. Maybe I will start up a new collection if I can free up some space. That being said, if I did it would again be strictly MARKLIN. To me no one make better trains. Nice to see this MARKLIN LAYOUT! Thank you for posting!
Gents, Once AGAIN I Plead: PLEASE send in higher-quality photos with higher resolution. I have bad eyesight and cannot see these photos from cell phones and the like, as they are far too small for me to see clearly. I KNOW I am missing out on a LOT of your good works, and I would really like to see what you all have done! Thank You So Much for indulging a short-sighted old man!
Harry
Awesome layout and full of amazing things like bridges, city, country, and more. I dont know if you can add anymore to that scheme and it would be a shame if you stopped modelling. Cant remember seeing an Aussie theme, desert, crocs, kangaroos, etc. and you’re just the guy to do it. Thanks for the show.

How did you like that hint? Keep pushing Eh. 😁👍
Beautiful layout! I really love Marklin models
I have Marklin trains since 1973, got hooked by the over head wires. Great to see a Marklin layout. I enjoyed all the wonderful different kinds of layout and have learned so very much about MODEL TRAINS, from this site.
THANKS AL AGAIN.
Love your mountain backdrop and am looking for something very similar. Did you paint yours or were they purchased. If the latter, can you pass on the vendor name and/or contact information. Thanks.
Sending this from Western Pennsylvania in the USA,
GREAT JOB!!!!
Just a thought, John Marshall. Try typing ‘Leaning Trees’ into Google and click on images. Like our models, and ourselves in particular, nature is not always perfect or symmetrical, but nearly always beautiful. Just sayin’ 🙂
