Henry’s been back in touch – I love the passengers he’s added to his HO platform.
He sends in a video and pics every year of his progess:

As usual, I did a layout update video on the date when I started with my current layout.
This year marks 5 years and though there has been a lot of progress, it is still not complete.
The video this year is long, just under 20 minutes, but a lot has been done.

Personally, I think think one of the wonderful things about this hobby is just how long a layout takes, and that even then it’s never really ‘finished’.
I know that puts a lot of people off, but once you make that all important start, it becomes strangely addictive.
Over the years I’ve noticed the folk who are unhurried but relentless seem to get the most pleasure from their layouts.

The girls at the scale seem to be a big favorite.
I notice the wye junction in front of the pig pen has a quick kind of bump incline.
Do your locomotives negotiate that incline without issues…
I (had) a small bump similar that “O” gauge locomotives had problems there,
Diesel engines were fine, but steam locomotives lost contact there.

A wonderful layout Henry. How did you fix all your track and other detailing, it appears that you must be working around shoulder height..

Pamela, it is a single garage, double deck around the walls.
Andrew, I used the one module approach, working at a workbench, and then installing the module at shoulder height for the second level. Track nailed and some places glued with liquid nails, details held down with diluted white glue.
Terry, the sucking signals are awaiting relays from China before they are finally installed. They will be in Vlakteplaas, the last scene on the video.
