Rob’s been back in touch with an O scale cab ride and pics.
He’s been tinkering away on his layout for 27 years now.
It just goes to show, a layout is never finished…

Jefry, who is on the left in the photo, recently mounted a tiny video camera on a gondola car enabling us all to go for a ride around the layout.

I know some of you love the 3 rails, and others, not so much. But I think that’s what makes this hobby: each to their own.
Some folk love running trains and never bother with scenery. Conversely, some just love the scenery part, and never get involved with the running, wiring and electics.
Both are absolutely fine – this hobby is what you want it to be, there is no right or wrong way of having fun.

243 box electric locomotive ,I grew up watching that train on the Hudson River Line ,And Also boarded the loco as a kid cause my Dad was the Foreman At Harmon shops in the Boiler makers area. Great Memories. ( photo # 11 )

Man what a wonderful layout you guys did a great job I’ve never been on a roundabout that actually moved and moved very smoothly good job on the old scale
You might say that is an O-27 layout. Lots of great NYC motive power. Love the ZW transformer and great ride through the layout.

Have three 9 x 5 ping-pong tables that are offset/staggered every 24 inches side-by-side and trying to come up with an O gauge multi-level track layout.
Outstanding just shows that 3 rail can look just as realistic as all other scales, well done. You guys should look into OGR Forum think you will enjoy. God Speed!

Nice to see another “O” scale layout. HO is okay, but not as realistic in my opinion. You may not have as much room on “O”, but there is more reality in the rolling stock and movable parts on the accessories.
That is very nice , great scenes and great work and detail creating them . Good to see friends enjoying a hobby together . Those are some serious trains , o e can clearly see you fellows spared no expense and left out no details . Very keen layout !
Very good optics. I’d love to know your source for the vehicles on your layout. The choices for O scale vehicles are very limited compared to other guages.

Love the ride on the gondola car but wish it was in front of the engine. It would have been a better view.
Very nice layout and scenery. Enjoyed the ride as a passenger. How about placing the camera car in front of the loco for an engineer’s view?

Well Done! Best looking 3-rail I’ve seen. Notice the fascia treatments that blend into the scenery (my pet peeve). I love it when the edges of the layout become part of the scene instead of abruptly defining it. Really well done fellas. And I agree…it’s the first time The Critic hasn’t complained about 3-rail…that’s historic! LOL

Hi, I’m just starting my layout at 81. I’ve had a train set since 1950 and set up a layout for my boys when they were young, but nothing like this. Love to see a layout with so much realistic scenery. Really loved the shot of the guy taking pictures of the steamer! Mountain lion sneaking up on him? WOA? I hope My layout turns out 1/2 as nice as yours.
