Tony’s been back in touch – he decided to add a touch of snow to his HO scale.
It’s another fine example of how your layout is exactly what you want it to be – nobody else matters.
It also shows how a layout is never truely finished.
I think when you’ve done all you want to do, that’s the time most people rip it up and start again, because that’s where the fun is.
Anyhow, back to Tony – some of you will remember his layout.
I love the way he’s connected two layouts together:
“Hi Al,
You know that time when you sit and stare at your layout and think, that could do with freshening up ? Well, I have done it again !
First I had extended my 8 x 4 ft HO layout across the window to create an extra 4 x 3 ft where I experimented with various ideas.
Well I finally decided on a winter theme and dived in using copious amounts of Woodland Scenics Soft Flake Snow SN140 – most realistic I have come across.
Anyway I hope you enjoy the photos attached showing the various stages of my layout.
Now onto the scary part for me – the electrics and lighting !
Keep up the good work !
Kind regards
Tony

A big thanks to Tony – he really did put a smile on my face with this update.
That’s all for this time folks.
Please do keep ’em coming.
And if today is the day you get started on your layout, the Beginner’s Guide is here.
Best
Al
PS Latest ebay cheat sheet is here.
PPS More HO scale train layouts here if that’s your thing.
Fantastic Tony! That’s probably the best winter layout I’ve seen with so many great things going on. Brilliant!
Regards to all.

Very effective especially with the skiers in place.
Thats some fantastic winter scene
Looks like a Hallmark Movie!
Tony
Great job. Love the ski jump.
Hah! Your ski jump reminds me of the one in Lake Placid, here in New York. It comes complete with the skaters on Mirror Lake! Good show!

The only thing missing is a skier on crutches!

Tony, simply fantastic! A winter wonderland.
Fabulous snow scene, Tony!!! I’m going to go back and look at this several times Sat. and Sun. as its going to be in the 90’s in NYC!!!
How about a video of your layout? Overall, one of the better layouts! Good job!!
Look great.!!!!!! I hope mine turns out that good.
Excellent job indeed, particularly interested as i am building a snow/winter/Christmas scene currently. But I must draw your attention to the British Flag it looks very much as if it is upside down, which indicates distress!
All the best.
Geoff
Nice. One of a kind layout. Definitely unique and great looking.

Super ideas!
Great winter scene. I can’t wait to see what happens in the spring! Hope your wires don’t get wet – LOL
That is very sharp layout well done!
I only wish I had taken some pictures when I built my first layout!
I hand cut thin cardboard to scale for the expansion cracks and hand laid every single piece!
I had utility poles with Scale “live” wires strung!
I used an “N” Scale train around my mountain top to be considered a mine train!
And to top it all off I also incorporated my skirt car track within my layout including a RR crossing, etc! I even bought semi-trailer rigs to run!
This bright back many fond memories!
THANKS
Tony,
Very well done! Many clever ideas!
Very nicely done , you did indeed use an incredible amount of snow , looks fantastic. You gotta do what you gotta do . Well done Tony, like the skiers and skaters , good addition . We can see the train , what about the slot cars ? Would be interested in seeing those as well . Sure seem like a fun layout .
The winter scene is wonderful!
Creative winter fun!
Brrrrrrrrrrrr. A model so realistic and so cold I had get a pullover.
Brilliant modelling Tony
Best wishes from a warm Down Under

really nice setup. i used to have a setup with ho, n, and a car racing set all in one room. cramped but fun.
Great touch to layout, especially the car tracks.
