Tom’s been back in touch with his stunning On30 layout.
I think you’ll recognise it as soon as you see it.
Well, have a look at what he’s done now:
“Thank you all for the great comments you have made.
Will have shot of my On30 layout soon, while not complete it is now 99% done and I will try to post the latest sections on this site.
Should anyone be traveling in the Syracuse NY area please look me up and you can have a tour of the layout.
This I’m afraid is the last of the Narragansett RR, age has caught up with me, I’m proud to say that I have been in Narrow Gauge Gazette 3 times, twice in MR, twice in MRC and many other publications.
Tom Pres. CEO and mostly Janitor Naragansett RR”
A huge big thank you to Tom for sharing his stunning On30 layout.
Some layouts just have bags of character and this is certainly one of them.
Hope you enjoyed his pics as much as I did.
That’s all for today folks.
Please do keep ’em coming – it’s still jolly rather quiet this end.
And if today is the day you get going on your own layout, the Beginner’s Guide is here.
Best
Al
PS Latest ebay cheat sheet is here.
Hat’s off to your creativity and style.
This certainly is a layout for the ages
in this scale.
Super work I’m very impressed .. what are finishing touches , back scenic views Where not yet completed and maybe track distressing .. pity saw no trains 🤞🏻maybe post some more pics
Wow … frankly more of an HO slot car ‘Aurora Model Motoring’ guy … wanting to integrate an HO train, if only I can find the once sold, car track with the HO train track crossing. But love the ‘trashy’ unkempt scenery … looks so raw, and real, that I had to remind myself, this is a train layout .. a hobby. I could almost smell the old small town air … of the various ‘poke n plum’ towns of America. “Just poke your head out of the window, and you are plum out of town!” I close my eyes and can hear the sounds, of the chain gang, listening to the people chat standing in line at the diner …. Well Done!
Wow
Wow Tom! You must have had a lot of fun creating all those scenes and scratch-built structures. I’m not sure I’d call this a train layout as the only train I saw was the locomotive on the turntable in the first picture. 🙂 Still, very nice work that reminds me of Dave Sellios’ Franklin and Manchester for the quirky dilapidated look of the buildings. Thanks for sharing.
Very Different, odd and unusual But I liked it looks great
Tom
As I marveled at your masterpiece and enjoying every second I suddenly realized that this is the only place left where you can be humorous and not be canceled out. Your layout shows the old times, fun times, yet some hard times but you can be you and not have some useless twit be offended and cry to some useless cause. Your layout speaks volumes of the old days, was so expertly done, humorous, and I commend you on your work & talents. Go Orange!!
Tom , congratulations on your many accolades, they are well deserved. Your display is very inspiring and simply amazing . I know the trolls want to see more trains , yeah yeah yeah … Your modeling and detail and creativity and recreativity of life’s scenes are truly a talent .
Great job!
Scenes of the past. Only one word can describe ….. G R E A T.
Awesome! Enjoyed the chain gang overseer reference to Cool Hand Luke! Model on
That’s a time period beyond our years .Life was simple but hard working souls making little , just happy to survive. great layout Tom .
The Critic
Tom , congratulations on your many accolades , they are well deserved. Very impressive modeling and detail . Superb creativity and realism . You’ve recreated scenes from any town USA … sparking many a fond memory for folks I’m certain . Great job sir ! Call it what you want … train display , diorama, shelf even … it’s cool and you should be quite proud .
Great modeling! The scenes are all full of life just as a railroad should be.
Immaculate beyond words
Unbelieveable scenery
What a work of art. Fabulous layout.
True craftsman layout on a George Sellios level. Truly a work of art.
Brilliant! So well done.
An absolute work of art.
I like the warning sign that said no petting your lunch I love that saying for a restaurant.👍🏿
Tom……. love your layout and your scenes BUT I am really interested in what you used to take those fantastically clear sharp photographs.
chain gang, different. nice layout, gives me some ideas.
Tom….. I love your detail and weathering. Pictures are so clear and shaft….. what did you use to take those pictures????
Really great “weathering.”
outstanding
absolutely unreal. never saw anything like it. so real.WOW !
just took the photos with an older camera, it just takes a little longer focus. Tom
Some one asked how I took nice clear sharp photos….the answer is I use a Nikon coolpix B500 nothing special about the camera except its a little slow on the focus, which is great thats why it gets such clear pics. Not really good for motion or real quick pictures stuff. It does take better pics than my phone.
They still make the camera not sure of the price but it can’t be much being an old NE Yankee I’m pretty frugial. Tom da ole guy
nikon coolpix B500 it take time to focus
True craftsman layout, joining George Sellios, pioneer JohnAllen and his Gore and Daphetid railroad, with incredible realism and whimsy, I.e. don’t pet your lunch! A true work of art.
