Alan’s been in touch with some model train fun that had me smiling.
In yesterday’s post (which you can see here) we touched on the importance of having fun with your layout, whatever that may be.
Some like scenery. Some like running trains. And some like both.
But as long as you’re having fun, that’s all that matters.
And Alan shows this in spades:
“Hi Al enclosed pictures of my newly erected elevated Kato with the cheap Kato unit in dark green ascending and descending.
As you can see a mix of all sorts all mixed up but as Dangerous Dave commented, as long as you enjoy it forget the purists.
Also I have just built my local Leeds United ground in Lego – 4000 pieces and because planning permission from my wife has been declined it will be in the loft with the Kato layout.
Hope you can display
Alan in uk”
Alan’s lego stadium really did make me smile.
If you have any thoughts on having fun, and ignoring the purists, I’d love to hear them – please do post a comment below.
Everbody is different when it comes to enjoyment. I know some of you don’t concern yourselves with any scenery at all, and are perfectly content just running trains.
Other just throw themselves into the scnenery side of things, and effectively create large dioramas.
But do you know what? Both are fine. Both are fun. It’s your layout, do as you please…
Personally, I’m all for some model train fun whatever that may be.
That’s all for today, folks.
Please do keep ’em coming.
It’s become very thin on the ground all of a sudden this end.
And if today is the day you stop dreaming, and start doing, don’t forget the Beginner’s Guide is here.
I know I keep saying it, but it’s the start that stops most people.
PS Latest ebay cheat sheet is here.
Loved the comment about “Planning”. As an addict of Homes Under the Hammer on TV I can sympathize with the decision going against you. Fantastic layout you have there.
Great Layout. Specialy the station/building on picture 15,14 and 8.jpeg with the red roof. Did you buy this if so which brand article number or did you build it yourself.
Please let me know as it is a very nice buiding. Thanks in advance.
Hi Alan. Have you thought about submitting an appeal re the football stadium or a bribe to get it through planning. The promise of a nice holiday usually works with my authority (Wife).
Alan; Where did you purchase the beautiful Viaduct? I have to have that type of trestle? Please respond sir!
The station I love also but I know who carries them.
Sorry about Leeds United no doing so well this year. But back with the big boys. Loved the lego. I’m one who what ever. You like ENJOY it. Model railroading wonderful use of much better the T.V.
Looks to be a very busy railroad, great job.
Awesome railroad, like the LEGOs as well!
Have to say how incredible the train station is. What kit is that? I had to magnify it as I initially thought it was a lego creation.
thanks for the kind comments the buildings are mainly kato tomix tomytec and outland models. The station with the orange/red roof is kato.I just throw everyone into the mix.I dont think i would ever get to exhibit the layout too UNTIDY BUT THANKS AL FOR POSTING.The unitram layout is seperate layout rather than mixing with the train layout.
I’m a scenics guy but enjoy Alan’s layout. Have at it!
Buttons, yes. Facebook, no. No telling what they will collect and manipulate, so
I avoid if possible. I’ll ask my son for an opinion.
I’ll also offer a personal guess as to my own positive interest ratio….85 to 90%
positive! You do a good job in keeping a good mix in the material you send,
and keep interest up by presenting a lot of different perspectives from your
