Rob’s been back in touch with an O scale cab ride and pics.
He’s been tinkering away on his layout for 27 years now.
It just goes to show, a layout is never finished…
Rob’s sent in two videos too:
“Four of us have worked on this layout over the years and are pictured here too.
Jefry, who is on the left in the photo, recently mounted a tiny video camera on a gondola car enabling us all to go for a ride around the layout.
I hope that you all enjoy this journey into fantasy.
Rob”
(Don’t worry video play the right way up.)
A big thanks to Rob for sharing his O scale cab ride.
If you want to see Rob’s earlier post with the full narrative and lots more pics, it’s right here.
I hope you enjoyed Rob’s update as much as I did.
Please do leave a comment below and let us know what you think.
I know some of you love the 3 rails, and others, not so much. But I think that’s what makes this hobby: each to their own.
Some folk love running trains and never bother with scenery. Conversely, some just love the scenery part, and never get involved with the running, wiring and electics.
Both are absolutely fine – this hobby is what you want it to be, there is no right or wrong way of having fun.
And if Rob has made you feel like leaving the comfort of your armchair and having some fun, the Beginner’s Guide is here.
Best

PS Latest ebay cheat sheet is here.
243 box electric locomotive ,I grew up watching that train on the Hudson River Line ,And Also boarded the loco as a kid cause my Dad was the Foreman At Harmon shops in the Boiler makers area. Great Memories. ( photo # 11 )
Thank you so much fellas.

Love that track plan!
Looks Great.!!!!!! I hope mine turns out that good.
Many thanks for running the trains … the layouts are nice .
Well you certainly mastered the NYC. Love your shiny “Niagara”. Glad you posted this, I love it.
Man what a wonderful layout you guys did a great job I’ve never been on a roundabout that actually moved and moved very smoothly good job on the old scale
You might say that is an O-27 layout. Lots of great NYC motive power. Love the ZW transformer and great ride through the layout.
here’s another video sans ‘Fred’ we sent that got missed, it goes three times through the tunnels on different tracks;

what a great layout and I loved the ride along
Have three 9 x 5 ping-pong tables that are offset/staggered every 24 inches side-by-side and trying to come up with an O gauge multi-level track layout.
Outstanding just shows that 3 rail can look just as realistic as all other scales, well done. You guys should look into OGR Forum think you will enjoy. God Speed!
An O-27 Niagara… LOL, but Terrific.
Paul
Very enjoyable ride, well done in every way
What are the layout dimensions?
Thanks for sharing. It’s impressive.
Great Job. Very nice layout.
O scale at its best, beautiful models, great scenery and appropriate speeds. Job well done!
Nice to see another “O” scale layout. HO is okay, but not as realistic in my opinion. You may not have as much room on “O”, but there is more reality in the rolling stock and movable parts on the accessories.
That is very nice , great scenes and great work and detail creating them . Good to see friends enjoying a hobby together . Those are some serious trains , o e can clearly see you fellows spared no expense and left out no details . Very keen layout !
Very good optics. I’d love to know your source for the vehicles on your layout. The choices for O scale vehicles are very limited compared to other guages.
One of the best and well planned O gauge layouts I’ve seen.Well done!!
Bob in NYC.
nice job and layout. gotta love the steam.
Great O gauge layout! I love the track plan and all the details-very well thought out and built. Congrats, you even got “the Critic” to not complain about it being a three rail layout LOL!
another impressive Leo, Thanks for sharing
Love the ride on the gondola car but wish it was in front of the engine. It would have been a better view.
Very nice layout and scenery. Enjoyed the ride as a passenger. How about placing the camera car in front of the loco for an engineer’s view?
Nice layout design and scenery.
What a great layout and your videos were excellent. Thank you all for sharing. Cheers Rossco, Adelaide, South Australia.
