I’ve been following your site for several years and never sent you anything to post.
Just watched a video on your site today of George’s very nice layout for his grand kids.
I got back to the model railroad hobby about six years ago after an almost 30 year pause ( except a Lego layout with trains I worked on for around 10 years ago ).
I started back in the hobby by purchasing a DCC locomotive and some Kato track set up on a small shelf board just switching track, no scenery, buildings, ect.
I was hooked, that evolved to a 4ft X 19ft single line HO layout.
After a couple years I decided to build an O scale for the kids.
George’s post prompted me to send you this 4ft X 8ft O scale layout for the great grand kids.
Later I’ll send a short video of the kids playing and running the trains.
Thanks for all you do to encourage the model railroading hobby.

I have enjoyed seeing others layouts from your emails for years. I have just complete my two level O-scale layout taking about 3 years on and off.
My layout is not a single place and time but more so a collection of memories or places/buildings I really liked.
Over the past three 3 years I have acquired road names engines and rolling stock the ran through Saint Louis, Missouri USA.

Cary, I never would have guessed a 4×8 O gauge layout could be anything but an oval around the xmas tree, but you surprised me with your kids layout! It’s actually interesting to look at! Not using tinplate track made it all the better. Well done!

I just love the “O” guage trains. I love the way the crossing gate goes down after the train has passed. When I was a bot there was a “O” guage club in the basement of an apartment building and I never forgot the sight of seeing the trains run. Those trains ran on two rail track with a wire fence along the track at the side and a little arm on springs stuck out to get the power. I wish I had the camera I have now seventy years ago so I might have photos instead of memories.
Are you running 2 lion chief engines at the same time on your 4×8 with one transformer if so how many watts is the transformer, I have been asking if i could do this and have been met with different answers some say yes and others say no..I have a very small lay out also but I have 2 similar loops like you do and the other is elevated and runs on a dedicated transformer.

I am not an “o” Scale person but these are great. Like the first commenter on here, I would not have thought that an “o” scale layout would be nothing more than an oval around the board.
