Ray’s been in touch with another fab update – and if you’ve ever wondered how to run multiple trains on one track, just do what Ray did…
… make a start and enjoy the problems a layout throws at you.

“Hi Al,
It’s been 7 months since my last update and I have got a lot accomplished since then!
I’ve added a commercial district to the last 4’x4′ section of my layout, I am really proud of the donut that I painted on the donut shop as well as the roof on top of the Kentucky Fried Chicken restaurant!
I managed to fill in my corners which I thought would be difficult but it was easy and I think they turned out well;
I’ve updated my control board, so I can run 3 trains at once, one on each loop!
I’ve added a steam locomotive to pull my two passenger cars! It’s a small 2-6-2 but it blows smoke!
Here’s some additional pics to show some other details:
Still lots to do, mainly ballast and background on the walls, other than the pics from my grandchildren!
I look at your posts almost daily and it inspires me and gives me lots of ideas! The comments I get are helpful and motivating!

No, it was intended to be a small rural town in Nebraska, I named it Debsville after my wife! I choose Nebraska because North Platte is the home of the Golden Spike Tower in Union Pacific’s railyard. Ray, you really did an amazing job on the donut and the KFC roof. That donut looks good enough to eat! 🙂 The red paint on the KFC roof is just the right shade of red. I have that same kit and would like to know what red you used for the roof and how exactly you got the stripes so straight.

Hopefully the link will work! I just used a small brush and stayed within the ridges on the roof! Hope this helps!

Also , thank you for the 65 white convertible mustang with the red interior . When I was a wee lad my uncle had that exact car … it’s the first car I remember desiring to own one day . That was 60 years ago, still don’t own one damnit . Good to see it at the KFC .
Love your RR. Nice job on the nuances and the track work. Decades ago I had a power pack that powered the DC rail network and a DCC control that powered the select engines with the add-on. It worked seamlessly on the entire railroad. It was great! Nowadays I would obviously go with full DCC but I don’t have anywhere to put a RR so I just ogle the ones on this wonderful site!
I could only see a touch of your (white) fascia next to the control panel but my pet project is to have modelers make the most of the edges by blending it into the scenery or just painting it flat black. There’s a reason that all the roadies at concerts wear black whilst doing their duties on stage…jus’ sayin’
