A very good friend of mine asked for advice on building an Engine House like the one that I built for my layout previously (see bottom photo), to put in the logging area of his layout.
It will be quicker for me to build one for him rather than explain and demonstrate it to him.
Photos below show the start of the scratch built one in HO scale without using plans or instructions, just measurements from his track already placed on his layout. (I have built so many of these in the past that I could almost do it with my eyes closed).
Time from starting it using a scribed siding sheet until the third photo was about two and a half hours.
The magnetic clamps if anyone wants to know are called right clamps (2 per set) available from Micro Mark in the USA and extremely useful in squaring up a building before and during the gluing process.
I will send more photos of the construction as I forge ahead on it.

as I scrolled down- the yellow engine poped into view . Out of my mouth came “O thats nice ” the picture and vocal surprised even me . I may now remove the 2 single track engine -car repair buildings I’m using and build a bigger one to replace both I have a douple track one on an other part of the lay out but its square and won’t fit the location of the 2 single ones that are side by side .thanks for posting these pictures We all get new idea’s
I did find them at Micro Mark but under the name ‘Rite-Way Magnetic Clamps’ They had sizes for both HO/O and N/Z. $24.94 for a pair of clamps, either size.

Quite a nice shed, most loco sheds are red.
I notice in all the photos the clamps are at the bottom of the structure. I would think you would want clamps at the top and bottom of walls being glued together to maintain true shape top and bottom
I love your engine shed! It’s really great. I also love the Rite-Way magnetic clamps, and have been using them for a couple of years. They can be used in a couple of ways, whichever suits one the best. I have two sets, and wouldn’t be without them. They’re well worth the investment to me…..Marion
Very impressed with Brian’s engine shed. I like the magnetic clamps he used, I don’t seem to be able to locate those, or similar, in UK. Does anyone know where I might pick up a couple of pairs? Regards, Peter

Amazon UK have similar clamps at about half the cost of Rightway ones
