DD has been in touch with a question on a model train stop sign. Can anyone help?
“Hello Alastair,
I enjoy your postings and because of that I am making this message which may be out of context.
But considering Canada has the 2nd and 8th. of the worlds largest railroads based on income some members like myself must remember and model HO scale steam.
To be somewhat authentic I will have to produce my own ” Through STOP highway” signs.
The single attached photo is the only one I can find on the internet and I have always recalled them as white not yellow.
If any of your members my age can recall correctly I would appreciate it.
My DCC layout is 5ft by 20ft and I fantasize of sending photos for your critique,
D.D.”
Now on to Dangerous Dave who has been back in touch with is his OO scale layout.
As always, he’s been busy on his layout.
If you’re new to the blog, you can see more of him – and others – in the Hall of Fame.
“Hi Al,
just uploaded video showing that area I said needed improvement on my last one, got my own caravan park now.
All ready for the staycation which looks like being again this year ….
Well pleased how it came out after a good few suggestions from modellers who watched my last video….
Regards
Dave”
A big thanks to Dangerous Dave.
Please do leave a comment below if you can help!
Now on to Ernesto.
He’s not a man of many words he’s put together a fab layout:
“I gladly share some photos of my model
Ernesto”
A big thanks to Dave and Ernesto. Who can help DD with his model train stop sign?
That’s all for today folks.
Please do keep ’em coming.
And don’t forget the Beginner’s Guide is here if you want to get going on your own layout.
Best
Al
PS Latest ebay cheat sheet is here.
Dave, I am getting a bit confused. One video you have 1 big bridge and then you have 2 and now you have 1 again. Am I going nutty?
Dangerous Dave
At this stage you are an important person in my life- thru Big AL- and I marvel how when you get an idea you just get it done. And done well. You are unlike me who is -Devastation due to procrastination.

IMHO your layout is your layout. Color anything you want your way. The correctness Police died of Covid and wont come your way. Oh- and we ridicule nay sayers.
Ernesto
Very nice. Little subtle touches that make something look so real.
To everyone -start off with scale, DC or DCC, and other vital info. I cant guess and my mind reading is getting worse with old age.
Be safe

DD, great rework of the layout corner, and it’s wonderful to see someone get things done so quickly on a layout. When will you start letting out the caravans? Thanks for another greatly enjoyable video!

Looks good, But would of like to see more.
Nicely done. Some very realistic scenery in these photos. You should be proud of your modeling skills.

As usual Mr. Dangerous Dave has outdone himself. The caravan park sits nicely in the whole scheme of things.
In Ernesto’s second photo, I don’t recognize the 2 cars in front of the caboose. They look foreign.
Dave, well done with the addition of the caravan park. Adds character to basically an unused corner of a layout.

I’m always amazed at Dave’s layout and the level of detail. Great work. Also, i really enjoy Ernesto’s bridges and his realistic work scenes. An overhead picture would help me understand how the bridges are integrated into the layout. Awesome layout

Dangerous Dave, the new Caravan Park scene is excellent, and thanks for including some great video of your trains running. You are a real inspiration!
Thank you all re my caravan Park , bookings coming in for the summer holidays now ..LOL …and Fred yes its back to just one Suspension Bridge , get a bit confusing Al occasionally show videoswhen there was 2 suspension bridges …but this run on the layout is as it is now …Thanks all again ..Dangerous Dave
Dave I really like your layout. Aside from it being absolutely massive I love the detail for the scenery and how well thought out your themes are! Very nice work.
A few days ago someone was having trouble with electrical shorts near his switches on a 3 rail O gauge layout. I didn’t have time to reply then and I hope this post reaches him and is of help —- search either Ebay or Amazon for a 3 volume set (although the first volume will probably solve your problem) Greenberg’s Wiring your Lionel layout by Peter H. Riddle.
Good luck
Dave. Beautiful job on the new section of your layout.
I was sorry to see you double suspension bridge go away,, it was one of my favorite spots on your layout. But then everything on a layout is up for change on a layout, so maybe it was its time to be changed.
Ernesto,
Is that a huge snake (cobra?) approaching the campers from the left?

Ernesto great craftsmanship, the bridges and trestles and such are amazing . Really enjoy the muddy river , looks very realistic . Great photos of your scenes , nicely done . You have made it look so real and easy , a true eye and talent . Thank you for sharing your layout .
Dangerous Dave … another great video , like the caravan scene much better . Good to see viewers on the point , your layout seems different every video . Good to see you enjoying your self and your trains , after all isn’t that what this is all about ?
Sorry no help on the sign , good luck none the less ,

Comming from growing up in Oregon, ISA have never seen a “Through Highway, STOP” sign. Will you please explain the actual case where this would be used?
