Yanni from Greece been in touch with some shots of his European HO scale DCC.
I do like it when a layout lands in my inbox from further afield!
It really doesn’t matter where you are in the world, if you’d like to share your layout just email me like Yanni did:
“Dear Al,
I’ve been following your site for years.
I can only praise you for your effort!
It’s very nice that you highlight new hobbyists.
I have been involved in train modelling since I can remember my childhood.
see some of my works.
Best regards!
Yanni”
Now on Hall of Fame member, Dave:
“Hi Al , just downloaded a short video showing a few of my non sound Loco’s
Dave”
A big thanks to Janni. It really reminded me of Michel’s post:
And lastly on to Peter who has been busy giving his locomotives a new lick of paint:
His last post is here if you want to get up to speed.
“Just thought about how much I got done this past year.. If you could post these it would be most appreciated.
Loco I started with
Got it down to brass bones and added WP standard freight things; new pilot, hand rails, horn arrangement, radio antenna, etc.
pic 3- final
Thanks, Al
Peter”
A big thanks to Peter, some model railroad jobs look thoroughly satisfying, and this is definitely one of those.
Thanks also to Dave and to Yanni for sharing his European HO scale DCC.
That’s all for today folks.
Please do keep ’em coming – it’s getting a bit thin on the ground this end. Just mail me if you’d like to share anything.
And if today is the day you stop dreaming and start doing, the Beginner’s Guide is here.
Best
Al
PS Latest ebay cheat sheet is here.

Yanni. Outstanding both your layout and the photography. Keep us up to date please.
Dave same comments to your good self.
Yanni – wonderful layout; very tastefully done.
Peter – superb job on that beautiful diesel.
Just curious – why did you eliminate the lower headlamp in your re-work? I’ve always loved the over/under headlights, especially with the upper lamp in gyro/mars mode, and the side markers lit up. Just this week I reconfigured an old N scale Kato E8 to have precisely those features using a LokSound 5 decoder and tiny 0402 red led’s for the side markers. It was a challenge, but turned out nicely.
Yanni , that is a superb display , absolutely magnificent detail . You have certainly honed sone skills there my friend . The lighting and scenery are very realistic and I love all the old steam locos . Totally cool . Great job sir .
Love that Deltech sound!
Jeff
Yanni
Very nice details and interesting layout. Well done.
Peter-nice work
DD- What happened to Tony’s? LOL
There is some merit in running without the roar and hearing the click clack & creaks that somehow move the soul.
Big Al-Thanks
Fantastic work all three of you but I do think that is the first time I’ve ever seen a Lotus Europa on a layout nice job
Dave I don’t agree with you I would much prefer to hear steam trains.
I am quite impressed with Yanni’s submission. The photos are artfully composed, the buildings are well chosen, and so is their placement. It is a wonderful layout to be proud of. Nice going. Dave, what can I say, your layout just keeps getting better with each iteration. It seems to me to be at a pinnacle right now. Your back scenes are very well blended into the foregrounds. I like it. Peter, beautiful work on the conversion. I admire what you’ve done. I have yet to try repainting a locomotive but hope to try my hand at it in the future.
Rob McCrain – Farland Howe
Very nice video, keep on railroading!
First, Yanni, nothing short of excellent. What a great layout.
Next, Dave, you are the best, I never get tired of seeing your videos.
Lastly Peter, truly a master craftsman, How long did the project take you.?
Truly awesome. Thanks for sharing.
Amazing detail, Yanni. Beautiful layout.
Yani…..great looking layout………really good job eith the lighting……nice night time scenes.
Dave……always great videos…
Peter……beautiful work……great looking locos.
Greetings to all. I am 88 and finally I realize I can no longer do the modeling I did years ago. There was a time when I could work with tiny details, but not anymore. everyone of the contributors to this site have surpassed me with their skill. Ah; to be young again. I want to contribute, but age has caught up with me. I can now just admire the work of others. Although I have a Marklin layout, I cannot get it into a shape where I would like others to see it; especially scenery. Scenery takes some artistry skill which I do not possess. At this point, I can only admire the work of others.
A magnificent layout!
Peter i just love to see those Western Pacific Loos from bygone days , and yannin thats a great layout you have built there ,…Thank you al for your comment re my layout …Dangerous Dave
Yanni, great imagination to your moment of capturing a scene. great layout and see buildings and houses you never see in the USA. Are they kits or fully assembled??
Dangerous Dave, always a delight to watch your videos.. Seems to be always something new on your layout. Love your buildings and such.
You don’t see them in the states like that…Love the Deltic sound.
Love the small cattle cars and square caboose. You must have a small fortune tied up in so many engines and freight cars….Are your houses from a kit?
